A guide to state benefits and social security law, this 1993/94 edition has been updated to include child maintenance law changes and new statutory maternnity rights resulting from the Trade Union and Employment Rights Act 1993. Changes to the Independent Living Fund are covered in the chapter "Disabled People", and details already in the chapter have been expanded and reordered. The chapter entitled "Training and Job Seeking" now includes new Placing, Assessment and Counselling Teams with new agency requirements, while the chapter on Legal Aid and Criminal Injuries Compensation now includes recent changes to Legal Aid rights. The book also now includes adjudication under the Child Support Act 1991 and also deals with reviews and appeals with general adjudications procedures. The book should be of interest to anyone advising on social security benefits or claims - accountants, solicitors and advice bureaux personnel officers.
