Intended to assist the practitioner who is in need of immediate answers both on points of law and procedural matters, this book on compensation for dismissal, gives a practical account of the statutory, and common law remedies available to employees, who have been dismissed. It also points out the potential liabilities faced by employers. This new edition takes account of changes in the law since 1992, and includes all the latest case law, incorporating the provisions of the Employment Rights Act 1996, as well as the statutory instruments extending the tribunal's jurisdiction to wrongful dismissal claims. Statistics show that the level of tribunal awards are on the increase and, whatever the outcome of the ECJ's decision in "R v Secretary of State", ex parte Seymour Smith and Peres, this trend is likely to continue.
