内容説明
This work covers the years 1897-1898 and focuses on the Spanish-American War and Theodore Roosevelt's role in both igniting it and fighting in it. This story tells how Roosevelt almost single-handedly turned a crisis over Cuba into a war that became a pathway for him to the governorship of New York and, ultimately, to the White House, and turned the US into a colonial power backed by a formidable two-ocean naval force. The book shows that much of the responsibility for the Spanish-American War must be attributed to Roosevelt's character and personal objectives. It recreates the spirit of the "Rough Riders" and Teddy Roosevelt's charge on San Juan Hill - both of them.
