内容説明
This work describes Trollope and the Victorian world he lived in. Despite his success, both in his post office work and as a writer, he remained a shy man who completely revealed himself only through his writing. The novel played an important social role in Victorian England - how were they published, paid for, and read? Trollope invented the novel sequence, and his well-known Barchester and Palliser novels are peopled with his enduring characters. Throughout his work, Trollope also reflected on religion, the role of women, America, Ireland, marriage, money and work. The book will include entries on Trollope's novels, short stories, travel stories, characters, places and themes.
