Description and Table of Contents

Description

This reference work provides a detailed description of all the by-products and waste materials formed during industrial processes that are used for creating edible and non-edible oils and their derivatives. All of the technological processes involved in the production of these oils are outlined, and information is also provided on the utilization of fats derived from essentially non-fatty raw materials such as bones, wool and cellulose. Additionally, the authors discuss the chemical composition, properties and usage of by-products from other industries. Waste materials formed in the fat industry are classified under the main headings of fumes, sewage and solid wastes. Effective ways of protecting the environment from the effects of these wastes are also examined.
