Description
This collection of articles by leading researchers is the first to focus on the conformational analysis of six-membered rings containing one or more sites of unsaturation, primarily by NMR and force field calculations. Such compounds provide a wealth of information regarding stereochemistry and dynamic conformational behaviour. Among the examples cited in the book are metabolites from polynuclear aromatic compounds, dihydroaromatics that play a critical role in the liquefaction of coal and heteroatoms containing dihydroaromatics, which are important in many medications. The book also contains a considerable amount of NMR data and an appendix explaining the ins and outs of empirical force field calculations to the uninitiated.
