Each volume in the "Women in History" series takes an original look at the involvement of women in various aspects of history, from the late 18th century to the present day. The series aims to provide background reading for GCSE studies and Standard Grade in Scotland. This particular book provides students with an understanding and appreciation of women's role and contribution to the family. It examines the changing status of women from the 1800s to the present day and explores what life was really like for women through various periods of history. Included are six case studies of the lives of some of the most inspiring women, who have campaigned to improve women's rights within their family role. The author has written several other books for Wayland, including "Let's Discuss Family Life" and "The Beagle".
