Description and Table of Contents

Description

This textbook is designed to equip students with the background in physiology required for medical practice or for further study in the biomedical sciences. It provides treatments of the fundamental principles of general and organ system-specific physiology and the complexities of integrative physiology. This second edition features a new section on neurophysiology and a new concluding section on integrative physiology, thermal regulation, and shock and heart failure. The sections on cardiovascular and respiratory physiology have been rewritten. The second edition contains 400 new or revised illustrations and many new pedagogical features, including summaries of key concepts at the beginning of each chapter and specially highlighted notes on the clinical relevance of the material. A separate book containing study questions and answers accompanies the text.
