Description and Table of Contents
Description
This text is related to the ANSI and ISO FDDI suite of standards recently completed by the standards body ANSI. It concentrates on the basic operation of FDDI networks and their various components, with case studies and vendor products used to relate theory to reality. Significant developments in the LAN are discussed with particular attention paid to recent trends in client server computing and networked multimedia. The book also provides an up-to-date view of LAN topologies, the emergence of switched LAN technologies, intelligent hubs, and network management, focusing on the way FDDI and its copper version, TP-DDI, fit to these recent developments. Extensive illustrations provide an easy reference to many of FDDI's fundamental operations.
