Description
A classic 3 volume work written by Reginold Heber, the Lord Bishop of Calcutta, describing his experiences on a journey that he undertook from 1824 to 1825 from Calcutta to Bombay via Dacca, Buxar, Benaras, Allahabad, Kanpur, Lucknow, Almora, Meerat, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Baroda. All along the way he offers descriptions of the lives of the people, the topography, customs, industry, religion, character of natives etc. The book is in the form of a journal and often extracts from letters that he wrote to friends back home. Volume 3 has a short account of his 5 weeks stay in Ceylon. This book is a reprint of the 3rd edition printed in 1828.
