This supplemental text/reference presents 53 nursing care plans that address the most commonly-encountered behaviours and behaviour complexes among adult and adolescent clients in psychiatric mental health nursing. Readers should be able to identify a client's problem easily by locating either the nursing diagnosis or the client's symptom. Coverage includes basic psychiatric nursing concepts, issues and interventions, and the text's "Nursing Process" focus utilizes NANDA nursing diagnoses. Therapeutic goals link assessment data and expected client outcomes, and expected outcomes are prioritized into "initial" and "discharge", stressing client safety first. New to this edition are: two sections in "Basic Concepts" - "Guidelines for Delivering Culturally Competent Care" and "Health Promotion and Early Interventions for Care-Givers"; outcomes-focused care; multiplicity of care-settings, including home care and partial hospitalization; case management, including critical pathways and transitions into the community; and updating of psychopharmacology content.
