内容説明

This is an introduction to public law as it stands in the light of developments arising from European union. It considers the importance of Factortame and other cases with an impact on sovereignty in the UK. The constitutional status and development in Northern Ireland is examined, providing students with an understanding of the difficult constitutional issues arising from this part of the UK. This text sets out to give students an overview of public law, an understanding of the theoretical principles and an ability to relate public law to the modern legal environment. "Public Law" explains the body of constitutional and administrative law and, where appropriate, examines the issues within the context of the social, political and economic problems the law is intended to address. Consideration is given to the introduction of a written constitution for the UK. Other topical subjects are also covered, such as privatization, European Monetary Union, civil liberties and public expenditure. The second edition brings the text up-to-date and incorporates: The Nolan Committee Report on the Jopling reforms on Parliamentary practice; discussion of ministerial responsibility after the Scott Report; recommendations of the Law Commission on administrative law; and statutory material including the Deregulation and Contracting Out Act 1994, the Asylum Act 1996, and the Emergency Powers Act 1996.
