"The Prākṛtamaṇidîpa, also known as Prākṛtamaṇidîpikā, a commentary on the [Prākṛta] Sutras of Vālmîki ... The work is ascribed to Chinnabommabhûpa, one of the Vijayanagar vassal kings. But ... it is learnt that Appayyadîkṣita, at the instance of his patron Chinnabomma, wrote it ... According to the author's horoscope ... he lived between A.D. 1553-1626."
