Description
The future of our global economy will be in knowledge- and technology-base economic development. Remaining competitive in a global economy will require the ability to harness the research and educational resources of higher educaiton institutions. Simultaneously, state and land-grant universities are seeking to reinvent their outreach missions with a major focus on providing direct services for local and regional economic development. This volume offers models the academy can use to become an engine of economic development. This is the 97th issue of the quarterly journal New Directions for Higher Education.
