内容説明
This work discusses how society views children and responds to their needs. The book considers how professionals in child care may communicate more effectively and sensitively with children. It offers a multi-disciplinary approach as to how professionals may prevent child abuse and protect children by listening. "Effective" listening to children is a central theme as is the ability to actually enter the child's world. The book provides guidance on how to break through the barriers which sometimes exist between the professional and the child. It aims to enable professionals to make contact with a child who has recently underone a traumatic experience, and to grasp the significance of what a child is saying and to act upon it.
