Description
This two-volume set presents the hard facts and the history behind the headlines; significant 20th-century events in the arts are described in some 400 chronologically-arranged articles. Each article opens with ready-reference top matter listing the category of the event discussed; where and when the event occurred; a brief summary of the event's significance to our cultural history; and a description of the people involved. The text of each article is divided into two sections: Summary of the Event describes the event itself and the circumstances leading up to it, and Impact of the Event analyzes the influence of the event. Each article concludes with a fully annotated Bibliography.
