内容説明
The World War II relationship between General Wladyslaw Sikorski, Poland's exiled leader, and Britain's Prime Minister Winston Churchill has received little but a passing reference from historians concerned with the broader aspects of grand strategy and wartime diplomacy. This study shows that Sikorski, far from being a minor figure, was an important partner to Churchill in the war against Nazi Germany, and how this translated into policies that went beyond the immediate interests of their respective countries. Agreement in Principle discusses exiled Poland's substantial contribution toward Britain's war effort during the period 1939-1943, largely as a result of Sikorski's leadership. Comparisons are drawn between the two leaders to show how past successes and failures contributed to their natural collaboration in strategic and diplomatic endeavors.
