A book by the author of "1791: Mozart's Last Year". This is a selection of Robbins Landon's essays on Mozart which cover a diverse range of subjects offering a broad perspective on his life and music. Included is a study of Mozart's visit to Paris in 1778 and his reactions to French musical taste. Also, an analysis of the role of his former pupils in the completion of the "Requiem", the incidental music to the play "Thamos, Konig in Agypten" and Mozart's church music and the tribulations - legal and financial - of the composer's last year.
