内容説明
The nature and origins of consciousness is one of the most contentious subjects of current academic research. Allan Combs presents a new theory of the character and evolution of consciousness, viewing consciousness as a chaos driven, self-creating process.
The author explores this theme in the context of wisdom traditions throughout the world, from both eastern and western culture, referring to modern studies of mind and brain. He reviews the work of evolutionary theorists such as Teilhard de Chardin, Ken Wilber, Jean Gebser, and Sri Aurobindo.
He concludes that the well-established traditions of 'states of consciousness' revealed in wisdom traditions, have much to tell us about the evolutionary past and potential future of human consciousness itself.
