This extraordinary book catalogues 122 recent acquisitions by the Staatliches Museum in Munich of outstanding examples of contemporary design from the period 1990-1995 in the fields of Decorative Arts, Industrial Design and Graphic Design. Also illustrated are items from the Museum's collection from the middle of the 19th century through the present, set in the context of their historic contributions to 20th century design. The work of such well known artists and designers as Josef Hoffman, Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Bruer, Isamu Noguchi, Le Corbusier, Andy Warhol and Philippe Starck are showcased in this lavishly illustrated volume.
