Canterbury is a small market town in east Kent which attracts visitors from all over the world who come to see its great cathedral and many other architectural riches. This is the first book to trace the history of this city from its earliest beginnings right up to the present day. It is where St Augustine came to at the start of his mission in England; Chaucer's pilgrims travelled to it; Christopher Marlowe was born there and Thomas Becket was murdered there.
