Scientific realists claim that the unobservable entities postulated by scientific theories can be known to exist. Andre Kukla here examines the arguments on both sides of the issue and concludes that neither side possesses the conceptual resources for securing a victory. He asserts that the dispute is irreconcilable - a conclusion that has broad epistemological consequences.
