Description
This text, intended for the use of final-year students in metallurgy or engineering, deals with the techniques of casting, the difficulties, the processes and also, the excitement of achieving a new casting, described as an "explosion of interacting events". The book examines these intricate, interlocking events that make up a casting, dealing with gaseous interactions, solidification and shrinkage, linear contraction, accuracy and the structure, defects and properties of the finished cast. Much of the author's expertise was gained during the development of the "Cosworth Process" by the Cosworth Group.
