内容説明
Twentieth-centruy German paintings, acquired in the 1960s by the late Baron von Thyseen, form the core of the modern holdings of The Thyssen-Bornemisza Collection. They revolve around three main groups of artists - Die Brucke, which included Kirckner, Heckel, Schmidt-Rottluff and Pechstein, Der Blaue Reiter, led by Kandinsky and Franz Marc, and the Neue Sachlichkeit movement of Grosz and Dix. Beckmann, Feininger, Kokoschka, Nolde and Schiele are also significantly represented. This catalogue provides an indispensible overview of the development of German art as a whole during the early years of the twentieth century.
A catalogue of 106 paintings by artists as diverse as James Ensor, George Grosz, Emil Nolde, Egon Schiele and Edvard Munch. With an introductory essay offering an overview of the exciting developments taking place in German art in the first half of the century.
