内容説明

This work focuses oc the successsful accomplishments of democratic politics in Latin America and the Caribbean - a process that nations in Eastern Europe, Asia and Africa seek to emulate. Dominguez considers the role of British colonial rule and US politics, but also examines the development of parties, other civil institutions, and competitive markers that lend permanence to democracy. The prospects of democracy for Cuba and Mexico are also examined. Despite recurrent problems, Dominguez concludes, the outlook is good for stable democracies in Latin America and the Caribbean.
