Description

As cardiovascular disease is a major cause of death in the western world, it is important that we understand the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. Oxidized LDL is, scientifically, the major risk factor. This text explains what glycation is and how it could lead to the oxidization of LDL. It also summarizes the data on dietary sugars as risk factors and on diabetics as an experimental model for atherosclerosis.
