内容説明

In Persia, gardens have for centuries fulfilled both physical and spiritual images of paradise. A Persian sees God in the garden and himself in the grass. Bowls from 4000 years ago show the world divided into four quarters with a pool in the centre, overhung by the tree of life. This cross plan, with one axis longer than the other, known as the "chahr bagh" or "four gardens", has continued as the standard design for Persian gardens. This book focuses on the gardens of Persia, including their history and heritage.
