The aim of this book is to provide a descriptive and critical assessment of automated instruments in common use in modern haematology laboratories. Topics discussed include instruments used for blood cell counting and sizing, automated examination of peripheral blood films, haemostasis, radio-isotopes and blood transfusion. The important subjects of quality control and quality assessment are described. Other chapters are devoted to the principles and methods of instrument evaluation and to the use of computers in general haematology.
