"The gazetteer of the Santal Parganas was originally written by Mr. L.S.S. O'Malley, and published in 1910. Mr. S.C. Mukherjee, Deputy Commissioner of Santal Parganas revised the Gazetteer in 1938. The State Government in the Revenue Department have undertaken the work of re-writing and publishing the entire series of Bihar district gazetteers."--Pref
