Listed in this French-language set are records of paintings in France during the first decade of the 19th century. Included are more than 21,000 paintings form 240 documented sales during the period, rendering a detailed view of the state of collecting and the tastes in France during the Napoleonic period. Numerous collectors and dealers active in France during this period are identified. A detailed introduction and commentary on each of the auctions along with the index of paintings by artist are included.
