内容説明

Among the most pressing needs facing humankind today are the protection of an adequate fraction of the natural world, and the nurturing of friendly relations among the neighbouring countries. These two seemingly disparate issues are often quite closely linked because environmental problems - whether associated with the utilization of natural resources or with the disposal or release of wastes - often involve more than one country. In the case study emphasized here, the three countries that occupy the Indochinese Peninsula have been embroiled in decades of conflict, a state of affairs which has also forced environmental disruption upon them. The region now appears to be entering a new era of peace and may be able now to deal with shared environmental concerns. A trilateral initiative would serve as a model to other nations that share the opportunities and problems of a multinational ecogeographical region.
