Description and Table of Contents

Description

This volume looks at the subject of human ecology, the complex interrelations between humans and the environment. Its ideas are finding meaningful application within numerous settings and institutions throughout the world. In this book, the authors have fashioned syntheses within their respective human-environmental contexts, and taken together, the resulting approaches reveal and validate the outlines of human ecology's broad mandate. The 16 papers collected in this book are the result of a human ecology symposium, organized during the Firenze intecol meeting in July 1998.
