Research into all aspects of cell cycle regulation has undergone explosive growth during the past decade due to the powerful techniques of molecular biology. This has enabled significant progress in the identification of drugs capable of acting on specific components of the cell cycle, with the result that we may soon have the ability to manipulate the cell cycle pharmacologically.
