内容説明
The world of arts and literature has not escaped the problem of AIDS. Not only has the disease made itself felt in the lives (and deaths) of artists and their friends, but it has also affected the very form and content of contemporary art. AIDS is becoming a prevalent theme in literature, drama, dance, music, film, television, painting and photography. This text examines various works and artists connected with AIDS including: the photographs of Robert Mapplethorpe; the paintings of Frank Moore, Ross Blechner and David Wojnarowicz; the writings of Paul Monette, George Whitmore and others; Tony Kushner's Pulitzer Prize winning play "Angels in America" and the plays of Terrence McNally, Harry Kondoleon, Harvey Fierstein, William Hoffman, Larry Kramer, Paul Vogel and others; films by Jonathan Demme, Cyril Collard and Derek Jarman; and the dances of Edward Stiele, Bill Jones, Christopher Gillis, Lance Gries and others. The text also provides coverage of docu-dramas, gala dance benefits, travelling art exhibitions, music, agitprop anti-art and more.
