The different ways of assessing the validity of measurement scales used in studying family and marriage are explored in this volume. Cross-disciplinary contributions provide momentum to the effort at developing indigenous and culturally appropriate measures and instruments. Divided into two sections, the book firstly presents a review of family measurement studies, developing a framework for evolving indigenous concepts and tools and exploring the validity of life-course analysis methods alongside ethnographic techniques. Section Two comprises abstracts of instruments to assess various dimensions of family and marriage in India.
