Description and Table of Contents

Description

This manual is a desktop aid for surgeons, orthopaedists and radiologists who must obtain diagnostically-useful X-rays of the hand and wrist. It aims to assist practitioners in ordering appropriate investigation and giving precise directions to the technologist to produce reproducible, informative views of the hand and wrist. There are over 80 different views of the hand and wrist, including standard views and techniques for imaging specific anatomical sites and clinical conditions. Each view is illustrated with X-rays and drawings, and presented on a two-page spread with X-rays on one page. The authors explain how to position the patient, and the information one gains from the different views.

Table of Contents

  • The hand
  • thumb and thumb joints
  • fingers and finger joints
  • metacarpals and their joints
  • wrist - carpal tunnel, carpal bridge, distal radioulnar joint, additional techniques.
