Description

"New Wave" is a four book series for teenage and adult learners of American English in an international context. It takes students from beginning to low intermediate level through activities based on their real language needs. The series uses international settings and characters to reflect the needs of learners to use English both in their own countries and when travelling abroad. This is designed for students at low intermediate level. There are eight units. Each unit begins with a dialogue and the dialogues are followed by questions and exercises. Each unit also has a "laugh and learn" section in which grammar points are introduced through cartoons, a reading section followed by exercises and a "live from CWHF" section where students can listen to broadcasts from a fictitious radio station. The format is much the same as for books 1 and 2. Unit 4 is followed by a section of optional extras and a game. A further similar section appears at the end of the book. There is great emphasis on interaction between students. There are cassettes available separately to accompany the book and also an Activity Book and a Teacher's Resource Book.
