Description and Table of Contents

Description

This handbook, written for physicians in all fields who treat cancer patients, provides a survey of therapeutic concepts of solid and haematologic tumours in internal oncology. Each individual chapter contains a brief outline or tabular summary of the main aspects of epidemiology, pathology, staging and diagnosis. The main focus is on the therapeutic strategy, in other words, an interdisciplinary approach to systemic drug therapy. Surgical and radiological concepts of treatment also receive mention. Practitioners and postgraduate students of all levels are provided with comprehensive information on individual therapeutic strategies according to tumour staging and prognostic factors. Supportive care, pain relief methods and ethical problems are also described. International contributors summarize all aspects of therapeutic concepts in oncology.
