International technology transfer has been an essential element of the 'catching up' process in developing countries over the last thirty years. This book reappraises its role in economic development in light of the globalization of the world economy.The author provides an excellent overview and historiography of technology transfer mechanisms. He then discusses the new technology transfer issues, particularly 'sourcing', which have emerged as a result of increasing globalization.
