This volume presents the work of German architect, Bernhard Winking, which is characterized by its particular reference to the location. Alongside his contributions to the cities of Prague, Berlin and Hamburg, focus lies in the urban redevelopment of the east German towns of Dresden, Weimar, Rostock, Schwerin and Cottbus. He is also involved in the redevelopment of the Ruhr area and his work in the historically notable towns of Kiel, Lubeck, Flensburg and Husum in the north of Germany is reviewed.
