Description

As both software capability and engineering understanding have advanced, the application of modelling techniques to the design and development of motor vehicles has increased. The use of these techniques now forms a tool on the analysis of noise vehicle harshness (NVH) for both vehicle manufacturers and component suppliers. This text aims to make automotive engineers and managers aware of the current capabilities of the curent methods which are now available in the field of modelling and NVH. Topics covered include: vehicle refinement; driveline shudder; accoustic and vibraccoustic modelling; and modelling absorbent materials.

Table of Contents

  • Whole vehicle refinement, M. Hardy
  • modelling and correlation of driveline shudder, M. Phillips and D.Adams
  • application of acoustic modelling to the determination of acoustic panel contributions, S. Roberts
  • acoustic modelling of silencers, K.S. Peat
  • advances in vibrocaustic modelling and aplpications to NVJH, P.C. Macey
  • finite element model updating - case studies, J. Mottershead
  • modelling absorbent materials in acoustic prediction and diagnostics, C.F. McCulloch.
