Description

This collection of papers considers the feasibility of implementing measures regarding the prevention and control of gas explosions in CCGT (combined cycle gas turbines) and steam plants. Topics covered include: deflagration within CCGT accoustic enclosure; risk-based approach to a study; practical considerations of the conversion of large coal- and oil-fired utility boilers to coal, oil and gas firing; assessment of gas dispersion in CCGT enclosures; and remediation of gas explosion hazards.

Table of Contents

  • Explosion hazards at gas turbine driven plants
  • operators' experience of deflagration within a CCGT accoustic enclosure
  • a risk-based approach to the potential for CCGT enclosure explosions - a study of Teeside Power Station
  • practical considerations for the covnersion of large coal- and oil-fired utility boilers to coal, oil and gas firing
  • assessment of gas dispersion in CCGT enclosures - measurement and CFD modelling using the CFX software
  • remediation of gas explosion hazards in gas turbine enclosures
  • an integrated approach to the management of gas safety
  • mitigation of gas explosions in equipment enclosures.
