This is a collection of the diaries and letters of Sir Ernest Mason Satow. He was the representative for Britain in Tokyo, where he was appointed Minister in 1895-1900. His presence in Tokyo assisted the process of coming to an agreement in the negotiations of the Anglo-Japan Alliance in 1902.
