内容説明
At a time when every country is concerned with global pollution and environmental damage, governments and industries are currently working hard to identify areas of leakage and formulate a range of solutions to achieve major improvements. The chemical, oil and gas industries have made significant progress in improving thier performance. This has resulted in a reduction in leakages to atmosphere and also reductions in product losses - benefits which have meant real savings in materials. Companies who are at the forefront of these developments are achieving a competitive advantage by pursuing a policy of improvement. The demands for stringent controls on process equipment are constantly increasing and product plants are becoming the focus on legislation to control environmental contamination. Loss of plant or equipment availability, environmental damage, lost or spoiled production, and expensive maintenance can often be avoided by applying new techniques, materials and methods.
This text presents contributions from practising engineers in the process industries and covers such topics as: understanding the extent of the problem; responding to legislation and regulatory demands; and self-regulation - working towards improved industrial performance.
目次
- Understanding the extent of the problem: cutting the cost of fugitive emissions: environmental risk analysis for accidental releases in the process industry. Prevention through better maintenance: a computer program for tightness control of bolted gasketed joint. Using new technology to improve performances: an acoustic leak detection tool for water pipelines
- leak detection and monitoring control using transient analysis for a better environment
- applications of TiO2 photocatalysts to better our environment - approaches in achieving highly-efficient reactions and realizing the use of visible light. Responding to legislation and regulatory demands: the contribution of environmental managment systems for the protection of the environment
- a monitoring system for atmospheric emissions. Applying good engineering to improve performance: effective energy management at ICI Paints, Slough Works, UK. Preventing emissions and leaks through valves, pumps and seals: real-world testing of cast steel gate valves
- water-resistant mechanical seals liquid leakage
- reduction of emissions in chemical processes - plastic-lined pumps and valves. Self regulation - working towards improved industrial performance: vinyl chloride leak detection and fugitive emission monitoring experience from the West European PVC industy
- abatement strategies for fugitive emissions
- how to control (fugitive) emissions form metallic bolted flange connections.
