Note

"Complete revised translation." Judith Spencer has translated the English text from the Italian ed. published in Milan by Mondadori in 1983 as: Il Libro di casa Cerruti

Contains full-color reproductions of the 205 miniatures of the Tacuinum sanitatis preserved in the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek as ms. series nova 2644, although in different order, together with an English translation of the accompanying captions which--notwithstanding the statement on p. 6 that "the integrity of the text of the Vienna manuscript is preserved"--interpolates information from Dioscorides and others not found in the original ms

One of several illustrated Tacuina, the captions or text of which are based on the Taqwīm al-ṣiḥḥah of Ibn Buṭlān, which was unillustrated. The work is here associated with the House of Cerruti because the coat of arms on the first page of the ms. was identified by Julius von Schlosser, who brought the ms. to the attention of scholars, as belonging to the Cerruti family of Verona
