Australia played a critical role in the peace making process in Cambodia, and the author of this work, Ken Barry, was one of the team of officials who drew up and negotiated the blueprint for the 1991 Paris Peace Accords. This is an insider's view of the complicated, often frustrating negotiations which led, not only to the Paris Accords, but also to what at the time was the United Nations' most ambitious peacekeeping operation. This is also the story of what can be achieved by skillful middle-power diplomacy when the international community puts enmities aside and opts to co-operate for peace.
