Description and Table of Contents
Description
Providing an overview of the UK nursing force and a profile of the UK nursing labour market, this work is intended to inform the debates on the "right" number of nurses to train and employ, on nurses pay, morale and labour market behaviour. It establishes the current profile of the UK nursing labour market, identifies key trends in nurse labour market behaviour, and highlights nurses career patterns. In addition, it critiques current work force planning capabilities, assesses implications for policy makers of key labour market forces - eg: the end of the "job for life", flexible working, the NHS reforms. The book concludes with a chapter highlighting weaknesses in the current system of work force planning and evaluation for nurses, and makes recommendations for change.
