Description and Table of Contents
Description
How do health authorities assess the needs of the mentally ill? Is this area of health given the attention it deserves? Recent analysis has shown that the needs of the mentally ill are hardly given a mention in the reports of many local authority Directors of Public Health. If health authorities are to assess the need of their populations and provide services to meet those needs, an informed and active dialogue between local psychiatrists and their Directors of Public Health is urgently required. This publication provides guidance to stimulate such communication and improve assessment procedures and the quality of care for the mentally ill.
