Description and Table of Contents

Description

The first part of the volume reviews the current status and future development of remote sensing technology for the mapping of geological, vegetation and forest resources. The concept of satellite magnetotelluric sounding was discussed and its importance stressed in the delineation of deeper subsurface information. The integration of satellite, GPS, GIS and advanced computer modelling techniques is emphasised for the management of natural resources. The second chapter regarding the orientation of the Earth focuses on its application to space research and its geophysical implications and impact on global change studies. Contributions of Altimetric Satellites to Solid Earth and Ocean Sciences summarizes the significant role of satellite altimeter data in measuring the general ocean circulation, mesoscale ocean current variability, polar ice topography, and mean sea level change. A total of 42 papers are presented in this volume.
