内容説明
This study provides all those who are concerned with the future of communications and society with an insight into the directions now being taken across the globe in managing media ownership. Telecommunications, broadcasting and the print media continue to merge, in technical, functional and organizational terms. This process is giving rise to concerns as to how the media of the global information society will be controlled and by whom. These concerns are integrally connected with questions of national identity, freedom of speech, democratic values and the ability of both individuals and nations to position themselves in the global information economy. As part of the "International Institute of Communciations Global Report" series, the book should help readers approach the future with a clearer perspective on where media ownership policy and regulation is heading in the coming years and why.
